Types of Marijuana

Marijuana is the dried mix of flowers and leaves of the female Cannabis Sativa plant. There are different varieties that you will hear about mainly Sativa, Indica, or a hybrid (combination of the two).Learn more.

The Sativa plant is known mainly for its euphoric (or head) effects such as alertness, uplifting, creativity, and increased energy.

The Indica plant is known mainly for its effects on the body such as body relaxation, appetite stimulation, sleep aid, and pain relief.

The Hybrid variety is a combination of Sativa and Indica and is grown to exhibit different ratios of either strain where there is more Sativa than Indica or vice versa. Additionally, there can be a 50:50 ratio of the two strains.

CBD

CBD or Cannabidiol is the non-psychoactive part of the plant. In other words, it does not create the "high" that users experience when using marijuana.

CBD may have beneficial effects such as reducing pain and nausea, preventing seizures, and easing migraine headaches.

THC

THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol is the main psychoactive part of the cannabis plant. THC is responsible for the "high" or euphoric effects users experience when using marijuana.
